We tried making sushi.

Kinja'd!!!

Lessons learned:

Don’t use too much rice.

Roll them TIGHT.

Don’t forget the wasabi.

Sharp knives are important.

As my daughter said, “it satisfies the craving for sushi, but it’s not restaurant quality.”

Ours was passable. The tricky part was cutting everything. We didn’t have any fish to filet, so I had to be satisfied with some smoked salmon and all-veggie rolls.

I was going to make chicken tacos, but im out of tortillas. So I made taco seasoned shredded chicken with cheese, black olives, and sour cream. With a side of corn and green beans

Sounds tasty. When we run out of tortillas, we usually serve whatever we’re eating with chips. You can’t make tacos, but they’re good for scooping!

Budweiser ($17.99 for 24 bottles in Kentucky now, so don’t judge), and a couple of tortillas.

Taco Tuesday. Nothin’ too fancy, but tacos are tacos.

We picked up  tacos from our friend’ s Mexican restaurant. They seem to be doing OK even with everything going on, at least.

Before I went to work I had two Wagyu beef burgers on brioche buns with sliced processed cheese slices and a tomato and habanero chilli chutney.

The other day I had toad in the hole, with mushy peas, mashed potatoes and gravy.

“Toad in the hole.” I had to look that one up. I’m happy with the toad on the toast, but I’m not sure about eating it with potatoes and peas. On the other hand, t hose burgers look fantastic.

Toad in the hole is sausages in a Yorkshire pudding mix.

Fry off some sausages and have a small to medium size oven dish heating up with some oil or beef fat (dripping), mix up some Yorkshire pudding batter. When the sausages are nearly done, remove from the pan and arrange in the oven dish, pour the batter mix and set back in the oven and watch the mix rise. Heaven.

That makes more sense. When I googled it, I got this:

Kinja'd!!!

My eyes gravitated to the familiar fried egg and the rest is history.

I do love sausage, but my favorite style is “breakfast” or “country” sausage. Most sausage in southern Louisiana is ando uille sausage. It has onion and pepper in the mix, so it’s often somewhat spicy. I like spicy, but the flavor isn’t what I grew up with.

Ye’, that one we call, egg in the hole.

My go to is Cumberland sausage. It’s not minced pork but fine chopped, mixed with pepper, thyme, sage, nutmeg and cayenne so while not spicy, it is peppery.

For spicy we have plenty of different chorizos, monterey jack and jalapenos pepper, pork and three chilli, etc... sausages.

For a great toad in the hole, a good Lincolnshire sausage, which flavoured with thyme, sage and onion.

You can also do pigs in blankets in the hole.

I mean, what’s not to love. Sausages, wrapped in bacon in batter.
